EAA Chapter 509 youth programs introduce young people to aviation through hands-on learning, mentorship, and real-world experiences. We create opportunities for students to explore aviation, build practical skills, and discover the many possibilities aviation has to offer.
A Welcoming Place to Explore Aviation
Chapter 509 is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment where young people can explore aviation, ask questions, try new things, and be themselves.
Our youth programs are supported by experienced adult volunteers and aviation professionals who enjoy sharing their knowledge and encouraging the next generation. Whether a young person already has big aviation goals or is simply curious, they are welcome here.
Safety, respect, and responsible mentorship are at the heart of everything we do.

Young Eagles Flights
Young Eagles provides youth with the opportunity to experience a free introductory flight with a volunteer pilot. For many students, this is their first time in a small aircraft, an unforgettable experience that often sparks interest in aviation.
These flights are conducted by experienced volunteer pilots who prioritize safety and education.

Youth Aviation Gatherings
Join us on the 2nd Monday of each month for hands-on activities, aviation experiences, career exploration, and opportunities to connect with other youth who share an interest in aviation.
Each month will offer something different, with activities for a variety of ages and interests. Whether you're interested in flying, mechanics, engineering, aviation careers, or just love airplanes, there's something to explore.

Community and School Outreach
We participate in school events, STEAM nights, and community open houses to connect students and families with aviation.
Through interactive displays and hands-on activities, we make aviation fun and approachable while introducing youth to opportunities in flying, maintenance, engineering, airport operations, and more.
Exploring Aviation Careers
Aviation is about much more than flying airplanes. There are countless ways to turn an interest in aviation into a future career.
Through Chapter 509 activities and connections with local aviation professionals, youth can explore careers including pilots, aircraft mechanics, engineers, air traffic controllers, airport operations, military aviation, and more.
Meet people working in the aviation industry, ask questions, hear how they got started, and discover career paths you may not have considered.
